Diaspora Cultural Center joins what will be an international movement to pray to the Divine for the welfare of mankind. During December, religious communities devoted to the orishas of several cities in the United States , like Mexico and Venezuela, two major events held to heal our communities while promoting world peace.
December 19, 2014 , Miami hosts an Agban ( Awan ) – a ceremonial cleaning – at the foot of Babalu Aye , the merciful orisha that helps heal the sick. The following day, December 20, 2014, olorishas , Obas and Babalawos from around the city will meet and hold a ceremony wemilere – a ceremonial drumming – to beg Obatala , the orisha of purity and serenity, to attend to heal humanity and help us to promote world peace .
Currently, we are asking for donations and much needed community support. The work we propose requires the contribution of many – of our community. If you are willing to be an integral part of what must be a significant moment in our history , please contact us.
We can and will do what is in our power to stimulate the well-being of our community and the world. Make yours by joining the movement .
In addition, beginning December 10, we ask that everyone who supports the idea of purity and peace in the world to wear white or wear something white on his person. Egbe Obatalá in New York has raised this tradition among its members and members of the community. Not only do we support this idea, but we want to take it a step further by asking for everyone to dress in white for one week in December. Olorishas all around the world – no matter what their practice – to send this important message: the world needs peace!
We will provide additional details on the events to be held in other locations as they become available. We count on your presence and support .
